Anoka County Parks partners with numerous agencies on projects large and small. On forest pest issues and pest management practices, we partner with the Minnesota Department of Agriculture. The Parks Department partners with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, and the City of East Bethel on an area referred to as the Sandhill Crane Natural Area (SCNA). All four agencies have adjoining land that are managed for wildlife habitat. These parcels are nestled among three lakes. The combination of open water, wetlands, and uplands provides a mosaic of habitat that is supportive of a diverse collection of wildlife species.

The Anoka Conservation District helps with projects such as streambank stabilizations, erosion control and surface water management, invasive species management, native habitat preservation, and reforestation.

The Nature Conservancy and Mississippi Parks Connection, in conjunction with the National Park Service, are valuable partners in habitat and reforestation projects. They not only mobilize crews of ambitious volunteers, they also supply financial support in the way of trees, native seed, and supplies used in the restoration projects.

The City of Lino Lakes and Peltier Lake Association have been important partners for over 20 years for the maintenance and preservation of the Great Blue Heron nesting colony on Peltier island.

Our Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) program is funded through a grant from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. This program focuses on controlling the spread of AIS into and among the lakes and waterways of Anoka County.
