RICE CREEK WEST REGIONAL TRAIL
Underpass Project
The Parks Department is working with the Transportation Division on a safety project that will route the Rice Creek West Regional Trail under CSAH 35/Old Central at the river as opposed to an at-grade crossing at CSAH 35 and 69th Avenue. The project is in the site analysis and early design phase. Construction is anticipated to occur in 2027.
Banfill-Locke House
The County is currently working with LHB Inc. on the plans and specifications for improvements to the Banfill Historic House. The building’s foundation needs repairing, as well as the siding and roof needs to be replaced. Plans and specifications should be completed this spring. A request for bids will be issued spring/early summer with construction anticipated fall 2025.
Rice Creek West Regional Trail Reconstruction
This project focuses on the reconstruction of the regional trail from the Hwy 65 tunnel to Locke Parkway to ensure the trail meets or exceeds ADA standards. Site analysis including site survey work began in early 2025. Next steps include conceptual planning to determine project limits, community engagement meeting to discuss conceptual design (mid-May 2025), archaeological survey/exploration, wetland delineation, threatened and endangered species survey, geotechnical evaluation, schematic design, permitting, community engagement meeting to discuss final design (Fall 2025), construction documents, bidding, and construction beginning (Summer 2026).
