  • This beautiful 550 acre natural resource, known as the Cedar Creek Conservation Area, is uniquely situated along the state designated wild and scenic Rum River and the ecologically diverse Cedar Creek greenway corridor.

The land was acquired by Anoka County in 2009 and 2010. Prior to becoming a Conservation Area, this property was home to the Misslin Family for nearly 70 years. In 1941, during the midst of World War II, Andrew and Elizabeth Misslin, loaded their four children (Marie, Andrew, Joseph and Isabel), and all of their belongings, to make the journey from Sheridan, Montana. The Misslins quickly adapted their farming practices to the sandy soils of the Anoka Sandplain and began farming, raising dairy cattle and living off of the land. Their farm provided ample opportunities for harvesting an abundance of fish and game from the nearby Rum River, Cedar Creek, and beautiful rolling farm landscape.

The Misslin family were good stewards of the land, took pride in their farming practices and had a special connection to the tranquil setting of their revered farmstead. Isabel, the last surviving member of the immediate family, was laid to rest in the spring of 2010.
