What does a watercraft inspector do?

Our AIS inspectors are MN DNR certified and trained as Level 1 Watercraft Inspectors to conduct watercraft inspections at public water accesses.  These inspectors work with boaters to educate them on AIS prevention methods around the public access.  In addition to education, our Level 1 Inspectors have the legal authority to deny launch of a watercraft if they are not in compliance to launch.

What to expect when you see a Watercraft Inspector?

Watercraft inspectors are there to educate the public about the laws associated with AIS. They will help to look over your boat and equipment to make sure there are no invasive species being introduced to a new waterbody. The inspection only takes a few minutes and helps prevent the spread of invasive species. More Information.

Aqua Weed Removal Stations

Newly located at a few boat launches around the county, the aqua weed removal station helps boaters remove weeds underneath their boat. Not all boaters can easily crawl under their boat to remove weeds, this new station gives boaters a tool to easily remove weeds by cleaning their trailer before leaving the boat launch.
