COON RAPIDS DAM REGIONAL PARK

Due to erosion and slope failure from flooding, the bridge over Coon Creek at the confluence of the Mississippi River and trails near the creek are closed. Please use this detour route.

Construction Update - February 2025
The culvert has been installed and the eastern trail is paved. The bridge is installed, however the concrete decking will be installed when the weather warms. The remaining construction to be completed in the spring include:

  • Install concrete bridge decking and curbing as well as install bridge railing. The concrete requires 30 days to cure so the bridge will not be accessible until late spring/early summer.

  • Pave trail from the culvert to the Cenaiko Lake parking lot and south to the bridge.

  • Remove and replace damaged concrete sidewalk at the Cenaiko Lake parking lot.

  • Seeding and restoration on all areas disturbed during construction activities.
